Bear Watching Loška dolina

The Loška Valley is located in the extreme south of Slovenia. It is surrounded by vast inland forests, an ideal habitat for many animal species, only an hour's drive from Ljubljana! Here, experienced guides take you to safely observe the brown bear (Ursus arctos) in its natural environment - the forest.

In the late afternoon, we will meet you at the Brown Bear Observation Information Center. We will present to you the essential characteristics of the brown bear, its presence in Slovenia and in the daily life of people in the Loška Valley. Before leaving for observation, we will remind you of the principles of safe movement in the forest and successful observation.

With the guide, you will then drive from the Information Center to the forest, about a 15-minute drive away. After a short and undemanding walk through the forest, you will climb to the observatory and listen to the sounds of the forest in silence and watch the animals that come close by. Among them is a brown bear. The program starts between 4 and 6 p.m.; the start depends on the length of the day, so the exact time will be communicated to each participant upon registration. The entire program lasts 2-3 hours, of which 2 hours are spent at the observatory.
